Om

"One day, I saw a girl from my class with a big board, and I was like: ‘Wow, it looks sooo cool!!’, so I talked with her, and some weeks later I had my first longboard ever. Since then, I've never stopped."

Team SkatePro Q&A

Q: Recently you've been crowned world vice champ at the Longboard World Championship in Eindhoven (congratulations!!): how was the whole experience?
A: It was stressful for me because I had an injury. I was not sure if I could participate until 2 weeks before the event. But I challenged myself, it was the best decision to take. The event was incredible, the first one since the pandemic: I saw a lot of riders that I had not seen for years. It was intense, and my final run was epic. In the end, I did a really hard trick: I was so happy to put it. My boyfriend ran to hug me, and this moment is etched in my memory forever.

Q: Any tips for keeping your cool during competitions?
A: Don't forget to control your breath. It's really important during your run. It helps you to calm your body and your mind. And prepare your run before. Personally, I prefer to have my run in my mind, it's more structured. The last tip: choose your music and use the same tune during your training and your contest run. The music will put you in a bubble and a cool atmosphere.

Q: How would you describe the Parisian skate scene? Has anyone ever complained about skaters in front of the Louvre?
A: I think that the Parisian longboard scene is the most important in the world. We have the most talented longboarders. And yes, every day we have problems at Le Louvre. But now, from 7 pm onwards, we have permission to skate without restrictions.

Q: Where does the inspiration to try new tricks and combos come from?
A: I don't know, when I skate I feel completely free to do what I want & create new things. Sometimes I listen to music, and I'm like: “oh, with this song I have an idea to create something new", and some other times it's from videos that I saw on Instagram, but I want to create something different, my own combos.

Q: What’s the first thing you recommend to people who want to get into longboarding?
A: Don't be afraid to start a new sport, don't be afraid to fall, it's the game. Stay consistent, try hard and enjoy every moment of your longboard journey, it's the most important part! And, yes, wear protection at the beginning. Have fun!
